Autumn Book Talks 2022

Saturday 24th September 2022 2pm - Emma J Wells “Heaven on Earth – the lives and legacies of the world’s greratest cathedrals”

Emma J Well Event

Award-winning author, broadcaster and historian Emma J Wells, illuminates the glorious architectural wonders of the world’s greatest cathedrals and interweaves the extraordinary human stories of triumph and tragedy of the people who built them. From the emergence of the Gothic style in twelfth century France - characterised by rib vaults, flying buttresses and elaborate tracery and which triggered an explosion of cathedral-building across western Europe – Emma reveals how a thousand years of cathedral-building, from Canterbury to Salisbury, from Chartres to Florence’s Duomo, shaped modern Europe and influenced art, culture, and society around the world. Jess Philips Event

From agonising decisions on foreign air strikes to making headlines about orgasms, from sitting in on history-making moments at the UN to eating McCain potato smiles at a black-tie banquet in China, the life of a politician is never dull. And it's also never been more important. But politics is far bigger than Westminster, and Jess Phillips MP joins us to make the compelling case for why now, more than ever, we all need to be a part of it. With trademark humour and honesty, Jess Phillips lifts the lid on what a career in politics is really like and why it matters - to all of us. BOOK NOW
